Solano Benitez

Solano Benitez is the co-founder of Gabinete de Arquitectura, a professional architectural studio in Paraguay. He graduated from the School of Architecture at National University of Asunción in 1986. In 1987 he co-founded Gabinete de Arquitectura, with Alberto Marinoni and Gloria Cabral. He was awarded the national prize for architecture 1989-1999 by the college of Paraguayan architects. He received several other awards and distinctions including Outstanding Youth Award given by the Junior Chamber of Paraguay for contributions to national culture in 1999, the BSI Swiss, an international prize given to architects under 50 for their contribution to contemporary architecture in 2008, the Architect of the Bicentenary award of the Paraguayan Architects Association in 2011, and an Honorary Membership in the American Institute of Architects in 2012. He represented Paraguay at the Venice Biennale, the São Paulo Biennale, and in Lisbon. Benitez has been invited to speak at several universities including Berkeley University of California, San Francisco University and Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
